I usually stick with the kernels provided by YOU but want to venture beyond the box for a sec ;)
Looking at ftp://ftp.suse.com/pub/people/mantel/kernel-of-the-day/i386/ , I see a bunch of kernels. Could someone tell me the difference between these two?
kernel-default.i586.rpm kernel-default-2.6.8-2cvs20040817164432.i586.rpm
Which one do I actually need? Also...as simple as rpm -Uvh ?
Thanks everyone.
Keith
The kernel you will want is kernel-default.i586.rpm. And use rpm -ivh to install if you want to keep the old kernel around, just in case. You will need to modify your boot loader manually though. You will probably want to download kernel-source.i586.rpm as well (the kernel source tree). -- Ken Schneider unix user since 1989 linux user since 1994 SuSE user since 1998 (5.2) * PLEASE only reply to the list *
