My SCSI Epson Perfection 1640SU OFFICE model includes an ADF, and in addition a TPU/filmadapter option (as included in the PHOTO model). The included software for Windows, Epson Smartpanel for scanners and Epson Twain5, support both the ADF and the TPU.
Now I try to get this scanner to work with Suse9.1 Pro using the included Sane 1.0.13 and Xsane 0.94. Flatbed scanning looks to work ok with both. But when selecting scanner source ADF in Xsane, the following error message occures: "Failed to start scanner: Error during device I/O", and no scanning starts. Neither Kooka works with the ADF selection. I haven't tried the TPU option yet , because I first wish to get the ADF to work.
Any experiences, ideas or suggestion?
Alternatively I would try scanimage to test my scanner. The following command looks to test flatbed scanning in my case: # scanimage -d epson:/dev/sg0 scanimage -h shows all options available. There is listed an option "--source flatbed|Automatic Document Feeder" I tried something like # scanimage -d epson:/dev/sg0 --source Automatic Document Feeder This syntax was obviously not correct. Can someone tell me how it should looks like? Thanks, Terje J. Hanssen
