SuSE 9.0 pro
YOU updated kernal to 2.4.21-243-default
YOU updated nvidia 0x0347
nvidia site says use nvidia 0x0348 for FX GO5700 (1680x1050) there is 0x0348 in sax2, but it wants a manual setup for the monitor
after the YOU updates, can't get into X with anything displayed properly, so this driver is wrong.
tried the latest nvidia driver from root, but I need the kernal sources.
can't find the latest kernal source on the suse ftp site, but there is so much stuff there I'm probably looking in the wrong place.
Did you read this:
http://ftp.gwdg.de/pub/linux/suse/ftp.suse.com/suse/i386/supplementary/X/ XFree86/nvidia-installer-HOWTO
I sure did read it first.
I did not know that. ;) You'd better mention that. :)
It says for 9.0 to just let YOU do all the work, then restart the X server. I did that and now it won't display X.
Try the 3 alternative steps also mentioned under the "I. SuSE Linux 9.0" header. Hum, at second sight, you probably are trying that right now, and you need the kernel source. It's here: http://ftp.gwdg.de/pub/linux/suse/ftp.suse.com/suse/i386/update/9.0/rpm/i586... You should be able to install that rpm with YaST, either 'Install/remove Software' or 'Online Update', or perhaps both, in that order. Cheers, Leen
