Using GDM with SuSE and getting it to work right?

Earlier I posted on alt.os.linux.suse about how in the past I couldn't get Yast2 to work graphically if using GDM. As a test (I hadn't done this under SuSE 9.1 yet) I tried it just now. Still doesn't work. Does anyone know how to get this to work right? What libraries need to load to get KDE apps to behave if you don't start with KDM? This whole KDE upgrade and OOo thing has me thinking about ripping out as much of KDE as possible and going to Fluxbox or something. Preston
