I've been using my IBM A30p with SuSE for 3 or 4 years now. I bought the IBM (A little more expensice than most) because at that time they where the only ones giving serious commitment to Linux. They no longer use non-linux compatible parts into thier machines. (Bravo, Applause) Additionally, They are very robust, forsaking looks for operation (My has 2 huge bare metal hinges holding the screen). Being robust is important if you are really going to travel with it, and not just take it on a vacation or 2. (As an a-side, the first thing to go on a laptop is usually the hinges holding the sreen, make sure they are extra sturdy. I've seen 2 laptops with broken hinges..) Okay, I'm happy with my IBM... Enough... Other points: Screen size and RESOLUTION. I run my laptop 75% of the time on my desktop, with dual 1600x1200, Both screen and an External Monitor of nearly the same size running 1600x1200. Most people don't stand the tiny fonts. And to be truthfull some times I have to increase the fontsizes. But I have LOTS of "desktop reala-state". I run lots of open windows, cut an paste, tons of remote screens, etc... In my opinion a laptop with less than 1400x1100 is waisted money! (Not many people agree with me there...) But you know your working habits on your desktop, and you should know you don't have to contrained to a 1024x768 peep-hole! Good Luck... Jerry On Fri, 2004-07-09 at 15:38, Malke Routh wrote:

Thanks for the info, Keith. I'm going out of town and may be forced to use dial-up, so that's good to know.
