use any alsa mixer and play with the settings. usually the other channels are off by default.
I had problems with the headphone jack on my Live Drive front panel module, with 9.1 I couln't get any sound from the headphones. Kamix didn't have the headphone volume control sliders and kmix did, but the enable button worked the wrong way round in kmix i.e. on=off and off=on. Maybe you need to exeriment with different mixers, but be wary of the buttons in kmix. I think there is and anvanced button to press in kmix so you can see the extra enable buttons.
