I have used suse since 7.0 and IMHO its vastly easier to setup now hardware detection, while imperfect, is much improved. 7.0 took two hours to setup and nine to install on a PI 233 with 128mb and a 2 speed cdrom. 9.1 on a PII 350 with 256mb and 50 speed cdrom took only 1.5 hours of which about 20 minutes was expert install and detailed package selection.
