Hi, I'm thinking of upgrading my current SuSE 8.0 professional installation to the new SuSE 9.1. Since the personal version is so much cheaper than the prof-upgrade, I might get that one. I don't really care about Gnome, advanced network stuff and such and most programs I use (Octave, LyX, Windowmaker) I install manually anyway. I don't take them from the SuSE cd's. What I will lack are some compilers, as I noticed from the package descriptions. Still, I do have the cd's from 7.2 pro and 8.0 pro, can I install 9.1 personal and then install the programs to compile and install from the old cd's? They might be slightly outdated, but they will do, won't they? Otherwise, can I get them anywhere else? Is this a good idea anyway? The other thing is, is there a place on the internet where I can store a large amount of data to survive the upgrade? I got myself a cd-writer for that, some two years ago, but I didn't get it to write, thought I did manage to create an ISO image. If it is possible to store it somewhere else (it is too much to put it on floppy's), it saves me from having to get the writer to work and then reinstall anyway. Thanks, Vinay
