SuSE has apparently given up on supplying the opti621 module for the OPTI 82c825 chipset. It has been missing since 2.4.20 which makes it impossible to use the DMA on my laptop. One solution is to recompille everything and remake all modules which seems to be a bit of overkill, but it works. Of course it takes the better part of a day or so to do all that without the dma working! And that only lasts until the next kernel upgrade comes along. So my question is simply, Does anyone have an easy/clear way of compiling a single module so it will work on the latest 9,1 kernel? Yes, I have read the F manual! and can compile helllo world but am to damn stupid to translate that into compiling the opti621 module so it will install and work. In the alternative, does anyone know of a readable howto for doing this? And, will you tell me how or where to find out how? Regards, Richard
