Luis-M, just to let you know you are not the only one having this problem. I also am in a workgroup environment, and Network Browsing doesn't work. I have two 9.1 machines; one an upgrade from 9.0 and one a clean install. They both act exactly the same. smb:/ bombs.... - no browsing. smb://windows-sharename works fine.

Hi Ken,
Sorry to dissapoint you but my problems with Suse 9.1 and Samba/Network browsing are without a Domain.
Hi, all. I'm late to this thread, but I just wanted to add that I've been struggling with the whole Samba thing here, too. I have a mixed workgroup of Win98SE, WinXP, SuSE 9.0 desktop, SuSE 9.1 laptop. So far, I can transfer files both ways from XP and Win98 to the desktop and the laptop. I can transfer files from the 9.1 laptop to the 9.0 desktop. I can't transfer files (although I can see the shares) from the 9.0 desktop to the 9.1 laptop because I get an "access denied" error. Of course all users/passwords have been properly entered and all YOU updates have been done. I've finally given up because I can work around things by transferring data from the 9.0 desktop to one of the Windows boxen and from there to the laptop if I have to, but of course it's a pain. Particularly because I can't see why it doesn't work in 9.1 when it has worked all this time with 9.0. And of course it worked fine on the laptop when I had 9.0 on it. >sigh< If anyone gets the solution, please post it to the list. Malke -- "And that's how we learned our lesson!" - Bender
