Trying to load them by hand wouldn't work either. # modprobe snd-cs4236 FATAL: Could not load /lib/modules/2.6.4-52-default/modules.dep: No such file or directory
Looks like you installed kernel update (2.6.4-54) and did not reboot after that as the running kernel is 2.6.4-52
