Hello all,
Does anyone here have a running kmldonkey setup yet? I've Googled around for a bit, but I'm not even an inch closer to getting it to work. Any thoughts?
MLDonkey networks are very sensitive to having up to date clients. Make sure you have unrar 3.30 or higher (http://www.rarsoft.com/download.htm) You need to get a up to date mldonkey CORE at http://www.8ung.at/spiralvoice/ and grab 2.5-16m (the highest stable release). In an xterm (or whatever virtual terminal program you use) Create a subdirectory in your home called ~/.mldonkey cd to it unrar x ~/mldonkey-2.5-16m.static.i386-Linux.rar Grab kmldonkey 0.10pre3 at http://www.kmldonkey.org/ build it and install it. cd ~/.mldonkey and manually startup mldonkey in an xterm via ./mlnet Startup kmldonkey. Note ports used by mldonkey and make sure you have TCP and UDP holes in your firewall. If you get banned shutdown for two hours and restart. You are using mkdonkey and kmldonkey. Note, the mlnet client must be running all the time you are getting files. The kmldonkey program is just a friendly front-end to mldonkey. mlnet does all the real work.
