Has anyone managed to get Samba working in 9.1?
Yes, as a matter of fact I just got a guest login to work a few minutes ago. :) Are you trying to get a guest (passwordless) login to work or a login with password? What exactly are the problems you're encountering (login from windows/linux machines, ...)?
I'm trying to access shares on my linux box from a WinXP box.
On both boxes I use the same username/password.
I added the username/password with "smbpasswd -a frederic" on the linux
box.
The first pbm is:
when I "smbclient -L localhost" (as user frederic) I should see the
workgroup (HOME in my case) but it never appears.
So right now I'm not even trying to access a share from WinXP but merely
trying to get Samba on 9.1 to show the "HOME" workgroup.
I'm not trying to do anything fancy. Usually it takes me 2 mins in
Mandrake to setup and has been that way with (almost) the same config
file for the last 2 years...
