I am trying to write a script to copy files using scp. I would like to be able to monitor the progress of the copy, but can not figure out how to redirect the output of the SCP command.
Does anyone know if it is possible to capture the output with the percent complete?
Thanks, Chad
Hi Chad, I don't use SCP, but when I do: # rpm -Uvh *.rpm I often capture the output (i.e. #######, etc) by adding: # rpm -Uvh *.rpm 2>&1 | tee /home/gar/text.txt where "tee" reads from standard input and writes to standard output and files, and "2>&1" takes the "stderrfile" and adds it to "stdout" You may be able to do something similar to solve your problem.
