How does one disable the nvidia splash screen? I have the same problem of scrambles text screens.
Add
Option "NoLogo" "True"
to the Device section in /etc/X11/XF86Config. But I doubt very much that it's the splash in itself that is causing the console corruption.
I doubt it too, but it was suggested in a previous post so I thought I would at least try it.

YOu have to disable the boot splash screen and not the nvidia one. Just delete the vga option at boot rerun mkinitrd and ir will do. But remember that I'd to downgrade to release 4620 in order to get it to work. Michel.
