I'm in the process of converting a colleague from win to Linux, SuSE 9.0 to be exact for starters. He has ICQ with the win install. I'm looking for suggestions as to the "best" choice for SuSE. I realize this is likely a personal preference thing more than anything else, but as I don't use ICQ i have no valid input.
http://avenir.dhs.org/icq/linux.html lists 8 choices: LICQ; GICQ; GtkICQ; ICQnix; KICQ; KXicq; cICQ; and clicq. Based on this I suppose there are several others. Anyway, any suggestions for what will be on Monday a totally Linux novice would be helpful.
My choice would be "none of the above".
Look at Gaim which handles many protocols including ICQ and AIM.
I would second this... Gaim rocks and you can put an icon on the panel just like with Kopete. I've had much more luck with Gaim then Kopete. -- "There is no need to teach that stars can fall out of the sky and land on a flat Earth in order to defend religious faith."
