During the load I received what appeared to be sequential Failure messages re. gettext, e2fsprogs, and attr at 19%. Attempted Retry a couple of times and then bypassed them. When Suse tried to boot following an otherwise successful load I received this YaST2 message: "An Error occurred during initrd creation. Root Device: /dev/hda3 (mounted on / as reiserfs) Module List: reiserfs Kernel Version: 2.4.21-99-athlon (i586) Kernel Image: /boot/vmlinux-2.4.21-99-athlon"
While awaiting an informed reply I tried running Repair off Disc 1 and after a couple of cycles it loaded the failed initial load of the three apps and appears to have fixed the initrd error as well. It is hard to evaluate since the children have seized control of the PC to play Asteroids! (They have been waiting a while to have Suse on their PCs instead of having to time-share Mommy's PC for access to Linux games.) Note: I suspect that the initial three app load failure was due to dust in the CD drive -- we all know how most pre-adolescent boys manage CDs and overall room cleanliness -- blew some air through the drive and all seems well for the moment! -- Thanks! doc Radio Life: http://www.gospelcom.net/twr/ Linux-Incompatible hardware is defective!
