First of all I which to thank the list members who helped me with my problem of a blank screen after I switch from a Nvidia MX400 to and FX5200. Changing vga=0x31a to vga=normal helped. Everything is installed and configured except now I would like to switch back to the graphical boot screen and console 1. I've currently using vga=0165. Is there some program or procedure for finding the correct video code. "lspci -n" gives "01:05.0 Class 0300: 10de:0322 (rev a1)". I tried using vga=0322 without success. Terry
There's a lot of information with the kernel documentation, in particular the svga.txt file. You might try vga=ask which will show you a list of option you can try, but first, use the 'scan' option of vga=ask and it will interrogate the bios to (hopefully) find the modes supported by the bios. -- +----------------------------------------------------------------------------+ + Bruce S.
