Hi,
I don't have "Kdiskstat" on my machine, but having it at 100% does not sound good.
Howver, it may be that your ~/(user name)/.Xauthority got corrupted.
you could try: Opening up a virtual console, Crtl-Alt-F1, snd logging in as root, then do: "init 3" (without the quotes)
login again as root, and then do:
"rm /root/.Xauthority" (without the quotes) "rm /home/(your user name)/.Xauthority" (without the quotes)
After doing this, then do: "init 5" (without the quotes)
The .Xauthority file contains your magic cookie. It will be regenerated when X starts up again. That is as it goes from run level 3 to 5.
You should then be able to log into your normal desktop.
Hope this helps, Gar
I did that too, but user still cant login via kdm . work fine via ssh or tty. please help me regards reza
