NO help on the Gimp newsgroup. If there's a Gimp elist, I don't know about it. The lack of this ability in Gimp is puzzling to me, as Canon is the largest seller in digital photography, (low end, mid-range, and high-end), followed by Nikon. Most of us using Linux and doing high-end pro. work really need to be able to import and work in those raw formats to eleminate any data loss. Gimp 2.0 does narrow the "distance" between it and PhotoShop some, but the lack of proper raw format support doesn't help in getting pros. and amateurs to use Linux. I'm not a code jockey so I can't help out. :)
Dave Coffin provides dcraw which will convert RAW to PPM/PSD format. He has also updated rawphoto.c for The GIMP2, available: http://www.cybercom.net/~dcoffin/dcraw/rawphoto.c instructins are included in rawphoto.c. -- Patrick Shanahan Registered Linux User #207535 http://wahoo.no-ip.org @ http://counter.li.org HOG # US1244711
