What do you get in /var/log/messages when you try to connect with kinternet? Look for lines with pppd on them
If you don't get anything, edit /etc/ppp/options, look for a line with
#debug
and remove the #, save and try again
OK, I turned on debug, but not much appeared in the log. Here is the Kinternet log for a failure (run as user): SuSE Meta pppd (smpppd-ifcfg), Version 1.06 on linux. Mar 25 06:52:38 linux pppd[2629]: Terminating on signal 15. Once again, the modem connects just fine when using ifup and ifdown (as root). I don't understand why Kinternet is killing it.
