Yes, you have to force the install. From what I have read, there is no problem in doing this. Because of the conflict, the simple commands
rpm -Uvh kdebase3-SuSE or apt-get install kdebase3-SuSE
will fail. you need to use the --force or --force-rpm-install parameters depending on whether you use rpm or apt.

Call me stupid or anything.. But i cant get the thing to install.. I am using apt, and no matter how i read the manpages, i still cant get it to force the install.. I keep getting the kwin.so issue... What would be the exact syntax to get the thing installed??
