Trying to setup a second computer. SuSE wants to make it 127.0.0.2 like the other box. If I edit the IP in the Yast "Host Names" program, it doesn't seem to be work.
Hi Jim, the 127.0.0.x (where x == 1 || x == 2) *must* be present, otherwise your box won't work. 127.0.0.x is your localhost, so it's normal that your both boxes have such "internal" IP-address. Now you must give them a *network* address, such as 192.168.1.x (where 0 < x < 255 ). The easiest way is to go through "YaST > Network devices" and configure each network card. Keep in mind the so called subnet mask. In this case, for a class-C network you should use 255.255.255.0; if this is not the same on *both* machines they won't see eachother... As for the IP-addresses, for example: for computer-A use 192.168.1.1 and for computer-B use 192.168.1.2 HTH, Martin
