I have put the IP address of my router in resolv.conf. But still no luck. I forgot to mention that I cannot ping the IP of my router. Does that mean anything ? Also, can somebody please post the ifcfg file for a DWL-G650 card ? thanks -t

I have a DWL-G650 wirless card setup. The problem is the following
# ifdown eth0 # ifup ath0 Starting DHCP Client Daemon on ath0... . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . no IP address yet... backgrounding.
The IP address never comes. Here is my ifcfg-ath0 -
BOOTPROTO='dhcp' DHCLIENT_SET_DOWN_LINK='yes' MTU='' REMOTE_IPADDR='' STARTMODE='hotplug' UNIQUE='svHJ.FrNZIE+DaY2' WIRELESS_ESSID='6' WIRELESS_KEY='xxxxxxxx' WIRELESS_MODE='Managed' WIRELESS_NICK='' WIRELESS_NWID=''
Is there something I need to do in the above file ? or something else is wrong ?
I have had a similar problem with a DHCP server: I hadn't get an ip-adress. I had to create the file /etc/resolv.conf first and inserted the following: nameserver an_ip_adress search group.domain
Write what you wand for "group.domain", in my case, SuSE only wanted the file to exist. Than it worked!

... I didn't have that problem, maybe because I tried a 'wired' connection first. Maybe you should also read the thread 'Wireless routing' from a few days ago. Now that you post that ifcfg-file I remember what I removed to get it working : DHCLIENT_SET_DOWN_LINK='yes' (I don't know what it means B.T.W.). But if I'll try to test this, this weekend. -- Met vriendelijke groeten, Koenraad Lelong R&D Manager ACE electronics n.v.
