I have a DWL-G650 wirless card setup. The problem is the following
# ifdown eth0 # ifup ath0 Starting DHCP Client Daemon on ath0... . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . no IP address yet... backgrounding.
The IP address never comes. Here is my ifcfg-ath0 -
BOOTPROTO='dhcp' DHCLIENT_SET_DOWN_LINK='yes' MTU='' REMOTE_IPADDR='' STARTMODE='hotplug' UNIQUE='svHJ.FrNZIE+DaY2' WIRELESS_ESSID='6' WIRELESS_KEY='xxxxxxxx' WIRELESS_MODE='Managed' WIRELESS_NICK='' WIRELESS_NWID=''
Is there something I need to do in the above file ? or something else is wrong ?
I have had a similar problem with a DHCP server: I hadn't get an ip-adress. I had to create the file /etc/resolv.conf first and inserted the following: nameserver an_ip_adress search group.domain Write what you wand for "group.domain", in my case, SuSE only wanted the file to exist. Than it worked! Andreas
the eth0 comes up without any problems
iwconfig
