'/i386/update/9.0/patches' is the path to the file 'directory.3' that YOU expects to find in order to know what patches are available. Check where the current setting (the selected ftp server) in YOU is pointing. E.g. ftp://ftp.leo.org/pub/comp/os/unix/linux/suse/suse If you browse to that server&directory using Konqueror, for instance, you'll find that there's where remaining path (/i386/...etc) starts. If YOU can't recognize that path and the directory.3-file you get the error. I'm not sure if YOU also requires the previous 'suse'-directory. I have many computers running 9.0 so I set up a local mirror with patches, and had some weird problems until I added that extra 'suse' before. However, I did some other changes at the same time, so I'm not absolutely sure. HTH /Marty On Tuesday 24 February 2004 19:39, Maria T. Reid wrote:
hi there, i'm sure this is an obvious problem and a newbie issue...but i'll ask anyway after exhausting my online research as a last resort...
i got suse 9 installed fine on my laptop, dual boot system. however, when i run Yast Online Update I get the following error...
"error Unable to get './i386/update/9.0/patches/directory.3' or to read the directory (socket error: 111)."
has anyone seen this before or know how to fix it? the research i've done hasn't produced any definitive answers. thanks in advance for you time and patience.
