Does anyone have an opinion on/experience with the use of reiserfs (or any journaling FS) on a machine with a RAID 5 SCSI disk array w/hardware array controller? I have always been fearful of anything but ext2 running on our production servers.
I've been running reiser on raid (although it is software raid) on my main server at the office, and reiser on hardware raid in servers on customer sites. Its Rock Solid, fast, stable. 5 years on the software raid and 4 years on the hardware raid. The underlying raid is simple mirroring, and I have not tried it on raid five yet, but see no reason why that should be a problem as reiser is not aware of the underlying hardware. -- _____________________________________ John Andersen
