I was trying to set up Courier-IMAP with procmail this last weekend and was met with limited success. I think the issue really isn't about Courier-IMAP per se, but a combination of software products not all playing with each other. And please, before you tell me to stop using procmail and start using maildrop please consider this: I'm a little familiar with procmail and unfamiliar with maildrop. Once I get something working, I can explore my options. I also have need to store mail into mbox files on special occasions. The Players: Kmail Mozilla procmail Courier-IMAP The problem: Kmail uses a different naming convention for directories than Mozilla (and probably squirrelmail too, which is another player, some day). I have things like Inbox versus inbox and Sent versus sent-email. I have also noticed that all the mailboxes tend to be subdirectories of Inbox. So, instead of a folder representation of Inbox, Sent, Trash I have a folder representation of Inbox, Inbox.Sent, Inbox.Trash. I feel that I'm feeling my way around one general issue of mailbox folders, directories, and naming conventions. Some of this I may not be able to fix under Courier-IMAP or any maildir IMAP based server. Specific questions: Can I use links to create folders to coincide between the different MUA's? ie: inbox->Inbox and sent-email->Sent. It is a "feature" of Maildir IMAP servers to put all the folders inside of the INBOX folder, or can I expect to be able to change this?
