I just got a message asking me to confirm that I was unsubscribing -- but I never tried to unsubscribe. It appears that this event was spam-related -- the unsubscribe message, which was relayed back to me, had a .exe file attached. Still, it seems quite odd that the spammer somehow created a connection between my (obviously harvested) email address and the suse-linux-e unsubscription address.
Anyone have a clue as to what might have happened?
I think so. The spammer - or the virus - sent an email to the unsubscription address, harvested from somewhere as well. Notice that there is also a unsubscription address unique to you hidden in the headers. Another scenario: the virus - there is a new outlook virus out there, subject "Hi" - mails to every body on the address boook, claiming to be anybody on the address book as well. There is a chance that it sends to the general unsubscription address claiming to be you. If that is so, many more of us will get it. :-} -- Cheers, Carlos Robinson
