Is there anyway I can make kde file associations globally affect a whole system rather than just locally to a single user?
Thanks, Steve.
Didn't I already answer you regarding this?

Hi. sorry, must have missed it. I can associate files in the user directories using kde control center but how do I edit or add an association in /opt/ kde3/share/mimelnk? I've tried creating the association as a user and then as root copy it to the /opt directory but it doesn't work. Basically all I want to do is add correct global entries for OpenOffice so that the file association works systemwide rather than just for a user. At the moment in SuSE-9.0 all OOo files are associated with the dearchiver. Thanks, steve
