Hi,
I'd like to buy a graphics card which supports both analog and DVI output. There were problems with DVI in Linux in the past. Does anybody know what the current status is?
I bought my ATi Radeon 7500LE card by Manli for about a year ago. The only thing I can say - I would never mess up again with this manufacturer. a) The DVI output in bios post was blank. Solved with changing firmware. b) I still have problems with resolutions != 1024x768 in XFree with my 15" LCD monitor, the screen is blank. Maybe it's my /dev/hands problem. c) I remember having problems with DVI output and LCD monitor in SuSE 8.2 - APM didn't work, I fixed it with radeon-dvi patch or something like that. Everything is OK in SuSE 9.0. That's briefly my experience using DVI. I think there should be no problem with present cards. Alex.
