Have system running SuSE 9 with static address eg. 100.100.100.100 for eth0. Per items found via google I added an alias to the internal 192.168.1.0 network by creating /etc/sysconfig/network/ifcfg-eth0:1 -------------------------------------------------- BOOTPROTO='static' MTU='' REMOTE_IPADDR='' STARTMODE='onboot' # UNIQUE='lgGW.dOs3tE1F6o0' BROADCAST='192.168.1.255' IPADDR='192.168.1.100' NETMASK='255.255.255.0' NETWORK='192.168.1.0' ---------------------------------------------------- then running # rcnetwork restart ifconfig -a shows the alias as expected. I can ping the alias itself but I can not reach other hosts on the internal network. A similar aliasing on the Red Hat and W2K hosts on the interal network work fine and I can ping betwixt them just fine. My first guess is that I need to make changes to /etc/sysconfig/SuSEfirewall2 but my various attempts are not working. Could someone please clarify what I need to do, in addition to the above aliasing, to access the other hosts on the internal network. Thanks R.Parr, RHCE Temporal Arts
