Hello, I have a partition containing an old install of SUSE 8.2. I reinstalled SUSE and want to find out which packages were installed on the old install. Does anyone know the rpm option (or other method) which can be used to list packages
Assuming the old partition includes both the old /bin and /var, and is mounted at (for example) /old, use
/old/bin/rpm --dbpath /old/var/lib/rpm -qa|sort
The older version of rpm is needed because the rpm database format changed from SuSE 8.2 to SuSE 9.0.
Thanks for the quick response to both you and Scott Jones. That is exactly what I needed. -- SuSE Linux 8.2 (i586) 2.4.20-4GB-athlon || Fri Dec 19 11:20:00 CST 2003 11:20am up 1 day 19:19, 3 users, load average: 0.20, 0.22, 0.18
