SuSE 9.0 uses the 2.4.21 kernel , but in the default config RW support is disabled. see % zcat /proc/config.gz | grep NTFS CONFIG_NTFS_FS=m # CONFIG_NTFS_DEBUG is not set # CONFIG_NTFS_RW is not set
Well that sucks, why would they do that. Sorry, I meant to type 2.4.21, typo. Is full NTFS support still experimental or something? It shouldn't be if it's in a release kernel and they are advertising it everywhere.
cd /usr/src/linux
make menuconfig
and then read the help for NTFS_RW support
That will give you the latest info on how stable it is.
If you check the suse website, you will see that they cleaim *READ* support
for NTFS:
http://www.suse.de/us/private/products/suse_linux/i386/linwin.html
They do offer full support for resizing NTFS partitions, which is something
entirely different.
I do not have the suse box and Cds with me, so I cannot check what they
pormise on the package, but AFAIK NTFS R/W support is only availble in the
2.6 kernel (or in the 2.4.21 if you reocmpile and enable it)
