I am having problems accessing my windows box, running XP Pro, on my home network, and also printing via samba. I have looked thru the archives and googled, and have noted that some others have the same problem. Despite following some suggestions found there, still no joy.
Any suggestions as to what steps I should take to narrow down the problem?
Thanks

Where are you trying to access, from XP to Samba or Samba to XP? I've had success in using the Samba server (XP to Samba), but not using the Samba client to access XP. I can browse XP using LinNeighborhood, but only if I rescan as user and enter the XP password. Opnely shared folders don't show unless I do this, but then all folders are accessible. Still cant print to an XP printer using samba. I can print to XP buy installing the Unix print service in XP (from the XP CD).
Hi! Try installing the new libsmbclient from packman on ftp.gwdg.de. It solved my problems using smb:/ to browse the network. Just use kpackage, if yast does not let you install it and rename the file to libsmbclient3... in order to replace the old one. Hope that helps. Sven
