I knew it. I entered one lousy command and screwed everything up. Now my printer doesn't work and the nice little graphical logon screen is gone. I entered:
rchotplug restart
That's it. (The restart failed by the way.) I didn't notice until a few minutes later that I could no longer print. I decided to try the Microsoft standard fix (I rebooted) and that's when I found out that the logon screen was gone. What the heck happened? (I'm running Gnome 2.2.2 under SuSE 9.0. I'm using CUPS printing.) Any help would be appreciated here.

Doing the hotplug restart is not what screwed up your system. Look elsewhere. The problem was probably there before you issued that command. -- +---------------------------------------------------------------------------- + + Bruce S.
