I suppose you haven't looked at the SDB. I'm forced to look there every time I reinstall (2 so far) since I always forget the solution. There is something about "USB Mouse not working after first install" that could help you. What I remember it's that it forgets to load some moudules and therefore mouse fails. Hi List,
Like a few here I have recently swithced from RH to SuSE (8.2).
My problem is that I cannot get my MS optical intellimouse to work.
Background:
During my first (clean) install of SuSE my USB mouse worked perfectly throught the installation process. For various reasons I decided to do a fresh install again.
This time the mouse stopped intermittently during the installation processs, making it really hard to set up partitions etc. I aborted the install, unplugged the USB mouse, and ran with a basic mouse off com2.
All went well.
Last night I thought it was time to use the USB mouse. Plugged it in (while the com mouse was still attached), it was detected and I was asked to select it from the list of mouse hardware. I cancelled the process thinking I should shutdown, remove the com mouse, and start again to avoid any mouse fights.
Now when I plug the USB mouse in, on an up system, hotplug beeps, but the mouse does not work. I can use the keyboard to get into Yast hardware setup, but it seems that the mouse is not detected.
I tried a number of times, but no luck, so I put the com mouse back in and go that running.
Any hints or suggestions would be appreciated (I did search the archives first).
I came to linux almost 2 years ago with no prior knowledge, so I offer a "new-ish user" alert!
