There are only one machine at a time. Only got one cable. but here is whats in my resolv.conf ----- domain local nameserver 212.181.54.2 nameserver 212.181.54.2 ----- That's it.
Ok that answers one of my quesions. How are you connecting to the internet? Is it Cable, DSL, etc? If you are using Cable or DSL, I would try and reset the modem and then try again. Some modems register the network cards MAC address and if a different MAC address then appears, then it can cause problems. Resetting the modem can help reset it so that it will get the MAC address of the current network card and register it. This should help you get it to work.
We need to get you to successfully ping the gateway before we can begin to analyze the resolv.config file. If the addresses listed here is of some DNS server either on the network or that your ISP provides, you should be OK once we get you going.
