Hello List;
I'm a very raw newbie that needs help. I'm trying to run SuSE 8.2 and my network card won't stick. I've been fighting this for three months with no resolution.
I've got a D-Link DFE-530TX+ card. The drivers appear to be correct (8139too) and in the correct spot in the tree. I can configure the device with Yast2 and it works like a champ. But all settings are lost when I log out either as root or as user. When I come back in I have no network settings. The card is recognized, but not configured properly. And nothing works, until I go through another configuration routine.
How about posting the output of: ifconfig and route -n 1) After you've configured the card. and then: 2) Right after you've re-booted and it doesn't work. We might be able to tell more from that.
My Linux box is connected to one of the ports on my Linksys router and it is connected to my cable modem and that is connected to Time Warner's Road Runner cable service. It's all DHCP. There's also a Win box on the same network (I'm using it now) and everything works great here.
I think I might need a new network card, but which one? And what would be the proper configuration settings?
Please help. It's making me crazy.
