I have an 8.0 box that I think I installed from CDs. I just mounted an ISO of my DVD and changed my installation source to point to the new location. Now, everytime I use YaST for software stuff, I get this messsage:
? The product information on the installation ? ? medium differs from the information found ? ? on your hard disk. ? ? ? ? Medium: SuSE-Linux-Professional-DVD-INT-i386 Version 8.0 ? ? Hard disk: SuSE-Linux-Professional-INT-i386 Version 8.0 ? ? ? ? Press "Continue" to proceed or "Cancel" to abort. ? ? [Continue] [ Cancel ] ?
How do you get rid of it?
Hi Jason, I had a similar problem with my SuSE 8.0 when I upgraded from "personal' to "professional." I did install some new rpms, from the "pro" CD's and I did change the source of installation using Yast2 (ie YaST Control Center --> Change Source of Installation"). But the change really didn't take effect and I had a similar error to what you are showing above. I then re-read the SuSE Admin Manual and figured out what I was doing was really an "install/upgrade", so I "rebooted" the machine, and then going to the initial screen I upgraded the system off the Pro CD 1, this changed a number of files and then after I rebooted again, I didn't get the error about "wrong installation source." After which I was able to use YOU to install new rpms and it recognized my "new install." I think you need to do similar, only using your ISO source, exaclty how you do that I don't know, but I hope this helps.
