Hi all,
I've been using SuSE 8.2 and it's worked like a charm with my Netgear MA311. I just upgraded my PC to SuSE 9, and now can't connect to my wireless router. I noticed that SuSE 9 thinks the chip is a Prism as opposed to an Orinoco. I've tried some configuration options in Control Center, but no luck. Sort of a bummer, as SuSE 8.2 picked up the card with no problem. Can anyone out there share their method of getting SuSE 9 to work with this card? Thanks, and have a good day!

Yesterday I installed SUSE 9 on to a laptop that uses a Netgear MA401 card. I suspect the 311 and 401 cards are quite similar. SUSE 8.2 and earlier were a PITA to get the MA401 card to work with the orinoco driver. With SUSE 9, setup of the card was almost simple and yes SUSE is using the prism driver. I only had to use YaST to change the wireless settings to match my network and added in some routing information. The only glitch I had was that previous versions of SuSE treated the pcmcia MA401 as the second ethernet card on the laptop and I needed to type "DHCPCD eth1" in order to get a network connection. With SUSE 9 the card is treated as pcmcia wireless card and now I need to type in "DHCPCD wlan0" to get a network connection. What exactly do you mean when you say you can not connect to your wireless router? Can you ping the router? If not, I would say check your wireless settings. If you can ping the router, but then get a "network not available" type of message I would suspect a DHCP problem. Also consider turning off wireless security when you trying to establish your initial connection, remember to turn it back on afterwards.
