Folks, I've been happyly using Suse 8.0 (updated with latest packages about 2 months ago) and KDE for the last year or so. Problem is a few days ago after a reboot of my machine, once I log in, I immediately get a KDE crash alert and when I close the alert my KDE control bar on the bottom of the screen disappears... This does not seem to happen if I login as root. Seems like something in my desktop is corrupted. How do I fix this? Can I just blow away the Desktop directory and start afresh? I seem to be running KDE 3.0.5 and was wondering if I should update to 3.1.4 the latest current release. How complicated would that be? Thanks for your help.
