Hi,
I am currently running Suse 8.1 Pro and I am only waiting for Suse 9.0 Pro to be released then Ill be moving to the new version as skipped one version otherwise this time.
Anyway I want to buy a scanner for the first time but not just any scanner it has to be USB and it has to work with Suse and a Scanning application that runs under Linux.
I looked at the Suse hardware support database but there are so many in there that I dont even know what is considered to be a good scanner. I was thinking of a Cannon, HP or another very well known brand. I would also like that the scanner is still been sold and not a scanner that is no longer being produced or supported.
If anyone has any comments or recommendation please let me know.
I have had very good luck with an Epson perfection 2450 photo: this is one with a transparency adapter built in, and it works beautifully with SuSE 8.2, sane and xsane. As I remember it, I didn't have to do anything to get it working nicely - even the Gimp plugin sorted itself out. HTH Fergus
Many thanks,
