I installed SuSE 8.2 on a Mecer T1100 laptop (This is a local brand and could be a rebranded FIC or Toshiba). It is an old laptop - P1-133, 64 MB RAM. The installation went all very well, except that the PCMCIA card was not detected. dmesg does not show any PCMCIA stuff. When I use the YaST tool to show hardware info, it just says that PCMCIA is available, but it does not show any devices. Any pointers on how to get this working? Googling has not given me any answers yet. Thanks This is what the log file show during boot: --<snip>-- rcpcmcia: /sbin/insmod /lib/modules/2.4.20-4GB/kernel/drivers/pcmcia/pcmcia_core.o rcpcmcia: Using /lib/modules/2.4.20-4GB/kernel/drivers/pcmcia/pcmcia_core.o rcpcmcia: Symbol version prefix '' kernel: Linux Kernel Card Services 3.1.22 kernel: options: [pci] [cardbus] [pm] rcpcmcia: /sbin/insmod /lib/modules/2.4.20-4GB/kernel/drivers/pcmcia/yenta_socket.o rcpcmcia: Using /lib/modules/2.4.20-4GB/kernel/drivers/pcmcia/yenta_socket.o rcpcmcia: Symbol version prefix '' rcpcmcia: /lib/modules/2.4.20-4GB/kernel/drivers/pcmcia/yenta_socket.o: init_module: No such device rcpcmcia: /lib/modules/2.4.20-4GB/kernel/drivers/pcmcia/yenta_socket.o: insmod /lib/modules/2.4.20-4GB/kernel/drivers/pcmcia/yenta_socket.o failed rcpcmcia: /lib/modules/2.4.20-4GB/kernel/drivers/pcmcia/yenta_socket.o: insmod yenta_socket failed rcpcmcia: Hint: insmod errors can be caused by incorrect module parameters, including invalid IO or IRQ parameters. rcpcmcia: You may find more information in syslog or the output from dmesg rcpcmcia: /sbin/insmod /lib/modules/2.4.20-4GB/kernel/drivers/pcmcia/ds.o rcpcmcia: Using /lib/modules/2.4.20-4GB/kernel/drivers/pcmcia/ds.o rcpcmcia: Symbol version prefix '' kernel: ds: no socket drivers loaded! rcpcmcia: /lib/modules/2.4.20-4GB/kernel/drivers/pcmcia/ds.o: init_module: Operation not permitted rcpcmcia: /lib/modules/2.4.20-4GB/kernel/drivers/pcmcia/ds.o: insmod /lib/modules/2.4.20-4GB/kernel/drivers/pcmcia/ds.o failed rcpcmcia: /lib/modules/2.4.20-4GB/kernel/drivers/pcmcia/ds.o: insmod ds failed rcpcmcia: Hint: insmod errors can be caused by incorrect module parameters, including invalid IO or IRQ parameters. rcpcmcia: You may find more information in syslog or the output from dmesg cardmgr[381]: modpath = /lib/modules/2.4.20-4GB/ cardmgr[381]: modsubdir = pcmcia cardmgr[381]: no pcmcia driver in /proc/devices kernel: unloading Kernel Card Services --<snip>-- -- Andre Truter Software Engineer Registered Linux user #185282 ICQ #40935899 AIM: trusoftzaf http://www.trusoft.za.net ~ A dinosaur is a salamander designed to Mil Spec ~
