Just got a phillips webcam and I wondered if anybody else had one and was using it under SuSE 8.2. According to 'make menuconfig' the driver is available as a [m] module, except I do not know the name of it. The pwc module is supposedly built into the kernel now. With SuSE 8.1 it was always loaded for me automatically. I did not have to do anything. For some reason (in my case) in 8.2 it does not load automatically. After a reboot if I do lsmod, pwc is not listed. However, I can do modprobe pwc and I'm all set. If the picture is too small, get the pwcx module too. You'll have to do insmod -f, and it will give you a warning, but it works fine. Lots of helpful information here: http://www.smcc.demon.nl/webcam/ The above site covers Philips plus the various other cams that use the pwc module. ******************************************************** Powered by SuSE Linux 8.2 Professional KDE 3.1.1 KMail 1.5.1 This is a Microsoft-free computer Bryan S.
