I'm currently using a RNG from the GNU Scietific Library in my simulation I need to rerun my simulation many times with different seeds. ... I do not know the relation between the RNG "status" and the RNG "seed"
For instance the internal state of the Marsenne Twistor RNG is stored in an array of 624 integers. A single integer seed can initialize the RNG but cannot re-generate the array. Thus you can save the RNG's internal state and use it later but you cannot obtain an integer seed. See e.g. http://www.math.keio.ac.jp/~matumoto/emt.html for more details. -- Alexandr.Malusek@imv.liu.se
