Astounds me to no end, how ppl can put up with crappy software(windows ver. of your choice), vulnerable to worms, viruses, and Lord knows what else when Linux is so easy to obtain and ultimately learn. Until ppl start voting with their feet and stop buying Microshaft products, I see no change whatsoever. On a forum I attend I scream to the high heavens on the benefits of getting away from windows and no one listens..might as well be talking to a tree.. Off my soapbox and onto the salt mine, hava fantastic week everyone...
I have experienced the same thing. People even agree with me, but do not change. :-) I would sum it up as : Fear of change and comfort zone. Most people feel comfortable in the situation, because they know it has problems and they can complain about it as much as they want to. If they solve the problem, they will firstly loose something to blame and secondly they have to actually learn something new. Unfortunately a move from Win to Lin is a huge change that require that you have to learn to do things differently. You have to re-organize your way od using a computer. To most people this is more daunting than to just live with Windows. In the corporate environment it is even more difficult to drop Windows, as the whole company need to do this or at least support it, otherwise you will have problems getting your work done. I am in a fortunate position that I can use Linux at work, as I don't have to write a lot of documentation or schedule meetings, etc. -- Andre Truter Software Engineer Registered Linux user #185282 ICQ #40935899 AIM: trusoftzaf http://www.trusoft.za.net ~ If you are in control, you are going too slow - Mario Andretti ~ Disclaimer and Confidentiality Warning This message is intended for the addressee only.
