Hello all!
Just wondering if anyone using SuSE 8.2 Pro is goofing off with the 2.6 test kernels? I would, and i keep trying different test revisions of the kernel but everytime it seems that a driver I absolutely need is in some sort of broken state so I have never got to make a bzImage much less install it and boot. Sorry :(
So far im up to 2.6.0-test3 with no hope of it workign on my machine. Oh well. I hope the developers keep up their amazing work and a stable release is surely around the corner. Anyone else?
If so, would you mind sharing what you had to go through to upgrade the 5 or so packages that needed upgraded to run the new kernel? Also, any insight as to the performance of the new kernel would be appreciated!
I've done this sort of thing before, even back during the 2.2->2.3->2.4 kernel cycle, but I'm not so sure I want to do this to my desktop right now... I mean, I've got it working fairly well and I don't really want to make drastic changes to it -- unless it's really worth it. Meaning, if the improvements are good enough, stability is there, and it's not too much work to upgrade the handful of packages needed to run it, I might be persuaded to try it.... ;)
