I´m about to install a new SuSE 8.2 box and thinking of using LVM. Any concerns about using it? If power fails, I could run fsck in the same way?
No concerns at all. It's very stable and efficient, and makes management of disk space a breeze. All the utilities, like fsck, work exactly as before - the LVM magic works some way beneath what those utilities are doing. The only disadvantage of using LVM that I can see is that if a disk fails, you'll loose everything on the VG, not just what's on that one disk. So you have to back up everything properly. ;o) --
