i presume you've been using su. try sux instead.
alternatively try a text mode installer if it exists
(problem is caused by the GUI installer).
I had the same problem installing matlab.
if sux doesn't work you may want to look back in the
list advice i got in relation to installing matlab.
there are a few other ways around it.

I have been trying to install Netscape (following the instructions). When I type ./netscape-installer form the installation directory (as the instructions, um, instruct) I get the following message.
Xlib:connection to ":0.1" refused by server Xlib: Invalid XDM-AUTHORIZATION-1 key (failed by comparison)
Gtk-WARNING **: cannot open display: :0.1
What does this mean and how do I fix it. I have installed netscape before (on Mandrake 9.0) using this method, and I have never seen this error before. What do I need to do to fix this.
